Privacy is why Tribe exists
Not a feature we added — the reason we built it. Here is exactly what happens to your data, in plain language, with no claim we can’t stand behind.
Locked to your account
Every record is readable only by your signed-in account. An anonymous request to our database is refused outright — it returns a 403.
Not stored under your name
Your activity, sleep, and health scores are saved under a random ID, kept separate from your name and email. On its own, that data can’t be tied back to you.
Never sold
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. We sell watches — your data isn’t part of the deal.
No trackers, none
No advertising or analytics SDKs in the app. Firebase Analytics is off; there are zero ad SDKs. We use Google’s infrastructure only to run the app — sign-in, database, notifications, and photo storage.
The watch doesn’t phone home
We re-flashed the watch so it never connects to the original manufacturer’s app or servers. It talks only to your phone.
The assistant only sees numbers
Your daily insight and the in-app chat receive only anonymized numbers — never your name, email, or location.
Shared only with your Tribe
Your steps and sleep are visible only to the tribes you join — people you invited. Leave a tribe and the sharing stops.
You’re in control
Delete your account and all of your data anytime. Need a copy first? Ask for an export at hello@tribesmartwatch.com.
Honest about the plumbing
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, in the United States), operated by us. We’re telling you that on purpose — a lot of companies won’t.
We use Google’s infrastructure the same way a shop rents a building: for the plumbing — sign-in, the database, notifications, and photo storage — with the tracking switched off. Firebase Analytics is disabled and there are no advertising SDKs anywhere in the app.
Being on our servers is why we can be precise instead of hand-wavy: your records are locked to your account, saved under a random ID that’s kept apart from your name and email, never sold, and deletable in full whenever you choose.
